Being positive is a state of mind and positivity is something we are passionate about here at Boostbery. Our core values as a company promote the wellbeing of our staff and anyone that we come into contact with, this is a great base to start and will in turn entice a positive outcome in any given situation.

“A positive attitude will lead to positive outcomes.”

Being able to remain positive in day to day life can be difficult, generally we all need to work at training ourselves to either remain positive or when the chips are down, to pick ourselves up, dust ourselves down, learn from it and then get back to having a positive outlook.

Depending on the situation or frame of mind, this can be a simple task or seem like a climbing a mountain. But the benefits of both being positive and utilising the power of positivity way outweigh the impacts of negativity and assuming the worst in life.

Why be positive?

So ‘Why be positive?’, may seem like a silly question, but sometimes not focusing on the simple things in life, become our problem. There are many benefits to being and feeling optimistic within yourself and below are just some of the key advantages of having a positive mental attitude.

Happiness & Contentment

When you boil everything down, one of the only things that really matters in life is to be happy and content. This can mean different things to different people, but the principles and end outcome are the same. Even though many of us live in a very materialist society, it is not material wealth that will ultimately lead to long-term happiness and contentment. Being comfortable with yourself and encouraging positivity within your own life can itself lead to ultimate contentment without the need to keep chasing moving targets all the time.

To gain Self Esteem

If you could totally remove the need to feel accepted in society, no matter what the reason, you would find a big weight being lifted from your shoulders. Although this is not generally totally possible and it is good to want to conform in certain circumstances, just by taking a step back from feeling like you need to play a certain person all the time can be quite liberating. By removing labels, you may have associated yourself with, you will find the path to feeling a lot better about yourself much easier. This then can lead to more self-confidence and a myriad of opportunities will be available to you as a result.

To be Motivated

Acting like your motivated vs actually feeling motivated are two totally different things. Its very easy to act motivated, extroverted people are a prime example of this. Extroverted people seem to others like they always have energy, are the life and soul of a party and are always driven to move on to bigger and better things. The reality is, that they may be the opposite. Feeling motivated stems from positivity within, motivation can come in an unlimited number of ways, but if you can use progressive thinking to become motivated this can lead to greater things. Being motivated gives you the energy to tackle thinks you may have not done without it, it is a goal or a vision that keeps you focused, steady and keen to do good things for yourself and others.

To remain Healthy

In recent years mental health has become a big issue in western society. The invisible daily pressures we all put on ourselves and others, accumulate over time to create incredible anxiety and doubt, which will ultimately lead to negativity and being unhealthy. By investing in your mind and training yourself to remain positive, you will find that good health will follow. This can sometimes take time, but how can any investment in your health be a bad one?

To maintain Good Relations

You will find that having a positive outlook on life will aid your relationships with friends, relatives and colleagues. Positive people are great to be around, positivity breeds positivity too, so the likeliness is that good those feelings will spread as a result. It also does not matter what scenario you are in, people love being with optimistic people, so to improve your relationships, try a little positivity!

There are ultimately many more reasons to learn to think and act positively and in times like we are currently experiencing; a little positivity goes a long way.

Be Happy
A positive attitude will lead to positive outcomes.

10 Easy steps to feeling positive

  1. Be grateful for what you do have.

Think about something you are grateful for every day, no matter how small. Something that makes you feel happy within, this is a feeling you need to reinforce.

  1. Take steps forward, no matter how small.

It really doesn’t matter how small the action is that you have taken to move towards a positive mindset. The important thing is you are moving forward with actions.

  1. Do things that make you smile every day.

All too often we get caught up in activities and tasks that seem to be a never-ending conveyor belt of negativity. Stop and do something that makes you smile.

  1. Have a dream, a vision that you work towards.

Don’t forget or be told that you shouldn’t dream. Dreams never hurt anyone and if they affirm a reason to move towards a positive goal, this has to be a good thing.

  1. Its ok to do nothing, enjoy doing nothing.

Today’s world is a fast-paced environment with little time for reflection. We have lost the ability to be still, to stop, to reflect and to be ok with doing nothing.

  1. Surround yourself with positive people.

Surrounding yourself with positive people does not mean neglect people that need help, it means actively promote positivity within your interactions with people.

  1. Read self-help, mindfulness, and positivity books.

There is nothing more rewarding that learning and upskilling yourself. This in itself can be a hugely positive step. See our next section on book recommendations.

  1. Healthy body, healthy mind.

Having a health body can be just as important as a healthy mind. Ensure you exercise, eat healthy and treat your body well.

  1. Refrain from lingering around negativity.

Try and limit your time with anything that you find is either draining or draws out the negativity in you. Small doses are ok, but if this continues it can really be exhausting.

  1. Practice regular mindfulness.

Mindfulness is the ability to be in the moment, to not worry about the past or the future and to be in the now. Practice this to start to be at ease with yourself.
